New Facebook Home Page Design Explained

As always, there is controversy in the redesign of any website…and none meets with more public scrutiny than Facebook’s.  Here you get a behind the scenes talk on what Facebook was thinking in terms of redesigning the site.

For my own part, I wish Chat was a little less glitchy. And I haven’t figured out how to hide myself yet (maybe someone can pass me the deets in comments). Also, notifications are still in my Facebook, they are just at the top…which is fine.  I actually rely on this and like it in the higher exposure area.

Are We Headed For Social Networking Burnout?

If there is anything I have learned from my 40 years on the planet, there is a point with anything where it goes from being the cool, hip new thing…to commercialized and overexposed…to burnout.

As a former radio DJ, I can tell you I saw plenty of hot new trends (punk, disco, new wave, college rock, second British Invasion, hair metal, grunge…) go from being underground cool cult favorites to becoming mainstream and over marketed to complete burnout. Oh, they might return in another form like Happy Days, That 70′s Show or Pop-Punk as nostalgic fun, but the second version is never as exciting as the first. (more…)
