Facebook Pages Feedback

Facebook Pages Add Impressions and Feedback Metric

Drew Hannush by Drew Hannush ()  |  Leave a comment

Finally, for those desperate to find a measuring stick for their social marketing efforts, Facebook has introduced some new metrics for gauging the number of people accessing Facebook Page content…Impressions and Feedback.

I say “accessing” instead of “viewing” content because an impression is measured as the amount of times your post is accessed on someone’s wall.  As with banner advertising, you can’t tell if someone actually viewed or comprehended your material, but with the feedback percentage, it’s a good bet you will know how many acknowledgements (click-throughs) you’ve had.

Are We Headed For Social Networking Burnout?

Drew Hannush by Drew Hannush ()  |  Leave a comment

NOTE: I posted this in February but with our improved comment system, I’d like to reintroduce it for feedback.

If there is anything I have learned from my 40 years on the planet, there is a point with anything where it goes from being the cool, hip new thing…to commercialized and overexposed…to burnout.

As a former radio DJ, I can tell you I saw plenty of hot new trends (punk, disco, new wave, college rock, second British Invasion, hair metal, grunge…) go from being underground cool cult favorites to becoming mainstream and over marketed to complete burnout. Oh, they might return in another form like Happy Days, That 70′s Show or Pop-Punk as nostalgic fun, but the second version is never as exciting as the first.

How To Set A Facebook Business Page To Custom Web Address

Drew Hannush by Drew Hannush ()  |  1 Comment

Have you set up a business page for Facebook and you’ve grown tired of giving out the long URL they provide to you…or sending people through Facebook search or your personal profile to find your business page?

I have just the trick…and it wasn’t easy to discover.  I went through about 20 Google links before I finally found accurate information on how to pull this off.  Apparently, over the last year the requirements for a custom business URL (web address) for Facebook has dropped from 1000 fans to 100 fans to now 25 fans (as of April).

Text Message Marketing, the Worst of Advertising

Drew Hannush by Drew Hannush ()  |  1 Comment

Okay, so I’ve been failing a bit to get myself blogging this month.  It has been a busy month.  But occasionally I hear something that so inspires me to action that I have to blog (I try to keep it industry related, otherwise you would have read a novel on healthcare!)

The latest item to get me inspired (or should I say incensed) is the commercial I heard today while waiting at the Drive Thru for my lunch. Apparently someone has the bright idea of selling Text Message Advertising as one of the best and low cost ways to advertise.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?

Think about it.  What do you think of unsolicited spam?  Its annoying and a bother…but you kinda ignore it.  Why, because it doesn’t cost you anything but time.

If You Use a Link Shortener Can You Measure In Google Analytics?

Drew Hannush by Drew Hannush ()  |  Leave a comment

For those of you that need to know how much traffic your Blog links in Twitter and Facebook bring back to your site, it is important that your Google Analytics software is catching every link you provide to your Twitter/Facebook feeds. But, what if you use bit.ly or one of the other Link Shorteners? Now your addresses are taking a bounce to a different address before coming to your site.  This is actually shown in Google Analytics as Direct Traffic.

Is Following Someone’s Twitter an Endorsement?

Drew Hannush by Drew Hannush ()  |  Leave a comment

Usually I try to post thoughts and suggestions for clients and the web in general, but after a weekend of getting caught up on Twitter, I came up with a very interesting question. Is following someones Twitter feed seen by some as an endorsement of their product or service?

There are a couple of strategies to using Twitter. You can take the celebrity / large business direction where you don’t follow anyone unless you are an advocate of their product or cause…or you can take the friendly direction (or for some the spike marketing route) and follow anyone that follows you.  But is that dangerous to your business’ reputation?

Lets say you are a Bible salesperson and someone from the Anton Lavey fan club follows you. Do you follow them back?  Extreme example, I know, but its to get the brain cells moving on etiquette versus protecting your reputation.  What strategy will you (or do you) employ?

Want to Get Started On Twitter?

Okay, so some may feel like they have missed the boat…and some may be thinking, should I get started with Twitter for my business?  Knowledge is power.  Here is a Newbie Guide to Twitter from CNet.com.  This is a 3 year old article but it still holds true.

For my own part, I say don’t get into anything for your business unless you’re willing to keep up with it. If you decide Twitter is for you…make a commitment not just to jump in and then ignore it.
